In classic hard drives, the operating speed can be estimated by the spindle rotation speed: the higher it is, the faster the drive works. Average values are from 5400 rpm to 7200 rpm. When installing a disc with a rotation speed of 7200 rpm, special attention should be paid to heat removal from the disc – with such a fast rotation, the device heats up easily.

The second parameter that is worth paying attention to is the buffer size, that is, the amount of built-in internal memory that the device uses to process, store, and manage. The larger the buffer, the faster the disk will run. Average values are from 16 to 256 MB.
