Old city

Gunpowder tower
A glimpse of the majestic 15th-century Gothic tower on Republic Square takes you back to the Middle Ages when it was part of the Old City’s fortification system. The tower owes its name to the fact that it once housed a gunpowder warehouse. There is a photo exhibition inside, and if you climb the 186 steps of the spiral staircase, you will find yourself on the observation deck, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city.
Celetná street
One of the oldest streets in Prague, which connects the Powder Tower with the Old Town Square. It was once part of the Royal Route, along which a solemn procession went during the coronation of Czech monarchs. And today it is a tourist road, pleasing the eye with many beautiful old houses of various architectural styles.
The Charles Bridge
Charles Bridge connects the two banks of the Vltava – Old Town and Mala Strana. Everyday thousands of tourists pass through it, admiring the views and examining the monumental statues – there are thirty-two of them, and each has its own story.
Prague Castle
Prague Castle is the largest operating presidential residence, and, the largest castle in the world. One of the favourite “performances” by tourists is the solemn changing of the guard at the gates of Prague Castle, which takes place every hour.
St. Vitus Cathedral
The cathedral was built for almost six centuries: construction began in 1344 and ended in 1929. Once under the high vaults, you can see the extraordinary beauty of stained-glass windows, frescoes, and sculptures. St. Vitus Cathedral was the burial vault for Prague kings and archbishops, each of its chapels is a historical landmark, so walking around the cathedral around the perimeter, you can not only admire the skill of sculptors and painters but also learn more about the history of the country. In addition, in the Cathedral of St. Vitus rests the patron saint of the Czech Republic and many of our compatriots with the name Vyacheslav – St. Wenceslas.
Old Royal Palace
Several halls are open for visiting in the palace, traveling through which one can imagine what the residence of Czech kings looked like during the Middle Ages. The huge Vladislav Hall with twisted vaults, used for ceremonies, is impressive. In other rooms, you can see old massive furniture, old books, and other items of royal everyday life.
