Samsung Pay. How to Make Purchases with It and How Does It Work?
We are already accustomed to bank cards and some have practically stopped using ordinary money, using bank cards everywhere. With the advent of new technologies, it has become possible to use smartphones as a means of payment. Many programs have appeared: Apple Pay, Google Pay, and a program from Samsung – Samsung Pay.
All such programs are similar in functionality. Samsung Pay has a distinctive feature from other programs – support for Samsung MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission). Samsung Pay mimics the magnetic tape of your card. It is needed in those cases when you are dealing with an old terminal that does not have an NFC chip (for contactless payment) and it is only possible to pay using a magnetic tape on your card.
Adding a card to the program is quite simple – launch Samsung Pay by swiping up from the bottom of the smartphone screen and going to the menu to add a card for subsequent payment. If this is the first launch of the program, then you will need to configure the authorization system to ensure the security of your data.
Additional functions
In addition to the main payment function, applications began to introduce additional features that make life easier for the user, for example, money transfers and adding club cards.
Samsung Pay users can now send money from any card added to Samsung Pay.
When transferring, it is not necessary to know the recipient’s card number – just select the recipient’s phone number from the contacts list on your smartphone or enter it manually. In this case, you do not need to wait for an SMS with a code. All that is needed is to confirm the transfer with a fingerprint or with an iris scanner, depending on the security settings of your smartphone.
Why should you choose Samsung Pay?
First, it’s safe. Instead of a card number, Samsung Pay uses a special randomly generated digital code – a token. The data that Samsung Pay sends to the payment terminal is unique for each individual purchase. You can make a purchase only after the successful authorization of the user – you control every attempt to pay. Thus, fraudsters cannot intercept your card details even during payment. In addition, all user data in the Samsung ecosystem is protected by Samsung Knox.
Secondly, the simplicity of the program. To launch Samsung Pay, you need to swipe up from the bottom of the screen. Choose a card and log in using your fingerprint, application PIN, or iris (depending on the smartphone model and security settings). After that, to pay, simply bring the device to the terminal and receive a receipt in the same way as when paying by card. On the watch, you press the top button to launch Samsung Pay, turn the bezel to select a card, and bring your device to pay.
Thirdly, you can use it anywhere. Use Samsung Pay anywhere that accepts payment cards. Wherever you are, you can pay for any purchase using your Samsung Galaxy smartphone or smart watch.
