Separately, it is worth noting the mechanism for protecting against unauthorized access of applications or processes to data or resources that they are not supposed to have. This is achieved through the use of the Security Extension for Android (SE for Android) mechanism. Thanks to it, applications outside the protected folder do not have access to data inside it.
If one of the verification mechanisms reveals some security problems (device hacking, unauthorized obtaining of root rights, etc.), the smart phone automatically blocks certain areas.
Security at all levels
The security mechanisms built into every Samsung device ensure that your data remains secure throughout the life of your smart phone.
For example, Knox protects the financial information of the Samsung Pay service, which allows you to pay for purchases using your smart phone. When rooted malware or unofficial firmware is detected, Knox blocks access to Samsung Pay, Secure Folder, and container. These applications cannot be restarted.
Secure Folder allows you to store personal files, images, and even apps in a separate, isolated area of your smart phone’s storage, which is comparable to using two independent phones. The user can move data to and from a secure folder and select the type of lock to access the folder (graphic, password, fingerprint scanner, or iris scanner). If the smart phone is used by several people, the owner can create several accounts and share access to certain applications with each of the users. Even if the device falls into the hands of intruders and they try to make a hacker attack, the folder will self-destruct.
Samsung Knox also protects biometric data in Samsung Pass, a convenient service that provides secure access to information using biometric identification. The function remembers previously entered passwords on websites and allows you to use auto fill on future visits. To enter the site, you need to pass verification in one of three ways: an iris scanner, a fingerprint, or face recognition.
