OnePlus 9 Pro 5G – The Hidden Gem of Modern Smart Phone Technologies

The variety of smart phones today, really impresses. It is easy to get lost when choosing the right model. Today we will talk about the OnePlus 9 Pro – the flagship of the current line of the manufacturer. Keep reading.

Appearance and equipment

The OnePlus 9 Pro comes in a fancy coral color box. The kit includes a smartphone with a protective film pasted on, a 65 W power adapter, a case, a needle for removing the SIM tray, a set of stickers, and documentation. The cover, by the way, is dense, opaque, with confident protective corners on the front side and a raised edge above the photo block.

The body of the device includes a fifth-generation Corning Gorilla Glass protective glass on both sides and an aluminum frame. On the right side is the usual OnePlus toggle switch for switching the volume mode; on the bottom, there is a SIM tray for two nanoSIM cards and a speaker. Stereo sound, implemented by the “one and a half” method, plays well. By good tradition, there is no AUX, but there is support for a whole bunch of audio codecs for Bluetooth. The optical fingerprint scanner is located close to the bottom edge of the display, which can be inconvenient. There are no complaints about speed and accuracy.

The 6.7″ Fluid AMOLED display with a resolution of 3216 by 1440 pixels pleases with excellent color reproduction and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The smartphone has LTPO technology, which allows you to save energy on “idle” screen updates: if the image on the screen is static, the rendering frequency drops to 1 Hz.

Software

The OnePlus 9 Pro runs on Android 11 with Oxygen OS 11.2.8.8. Whatever the trends in its development, the lack of advertising, nice design, high-quality animations, stable operation, and non-obvious features like a hidden menu, Zen mode, and a quick menu for holding a fingerprint are still pleasing.

Cameras

As many as four sensors found a place in the arsenal of the main photo block of the OnePlus 9 Pro: the main one, wide-angle, telephoto, and a 2 MP monochromatic module. Collaboration with Hasselblad adds additional weight to the photo opportunities. The eminent manufacturer of photographic equipment was responsible for setting the color reproduction.

The main camera Sony IMX789 with a resolution of 48 Mp, a matrix size of 1/1.43″, optical stabilization and hybrid autofocus produces a pleasant, but peculiar result. Good detail and blurring coexist here with excessive blackening of dark areas. It’s not a matter of lack of dynamic range, but rather post-processing for greater expressiveness of frames.

The Sony IMX471 front camera has a resolution of 16 megapixels, f / 2.4 aperture, and fixed focus. Portrait mode is supported with good object delineation accuracy, but possible color distortions.

Performance

Under the hood of the OnePlus 9 Pro lies the classic set of this season’s flagship: the unstoppable Snapdragon 888 with Adreno 660 graphics chip, 8/12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 128/256 GB of UFS 3.1 permanent storage. Oxygen OS has a game launcher for running games and other high-demanding applications. In addition to the changed behavior, it activates a touch layer frequency of 240 Hz, while in normal mode only 120 Hz is used.

To conclude,  its key advantage is video recording. Otherwise, the user receives a device with good ergonomics, dust and moisture protection certification, an intelligent display with LTPO technology, a pleasant stereo, fast charging, a proprietary Oxygen OS shell, and an intelligent photo block with color rendering features.
