Meet Danish Capital – Copenhagen. What to See There in a Few Days?
What do we know about Denmark? Its capital is Copenhagen, the famous children’s writer Hans Christian Andersen was born and created here, LEGO was invented here, the Danish Dannebrog flag is the oldest national flag in the world, and the happiest people in the world live in Denmark. And what interesting things can you see in the capital of Denmark, going there for the weekend? Let’s find it out in the following article.
Amalienborg
When talking about Amalienborg, know that we are talking about one of the most beautiful palace complexes in Denmark and the current residence of the Danish royal family. It was built in the Rococo style and consists of four buildings, each of which is named after a particular monarch of Denmark, a statue of the monarch Frederin the fifth on horseback, and an octagonal courtyard. Of the four buildings, only two are open to tourists. Having visited them, you can see the interiors, rich decoration, furniture, and much more, which was typical for the royal chambers of the 18-20th century.
Little Mermaid Sculpture
The little mermaid sitting on a stone is a landmark of Copenhagen, which is known all over the world. Thousands of tourists travel to the Langelinie embankment to look at this elegant sculpture depicting the famous fairy tale character by G.Kh. Andersen, who once lived and worked in the capital of Denmark.
Kastellet
This seventeenth-century fortress is unique not only because it was built in the shape of a pentagonal star, but also because it is still part of the country’s defense department and has the status of a military facility (which is why there is no full access to its territory). There is nothing left of its walls and towers, but the old cannons still rise on the embankments. In addition, it is surrounded by a park with a picturesque baroque church, an old windmill, and other attractions.
Freetown Christiania
This is a truly unique place that you would not expect to see in such a neat and proper city like Copenhagen. It has its own atmosphere and unique colour. We can say that this is a separate small state within a state. And if we talk about its population, then these are creative personalities, representatives of bohemians, freedom-loving fighters for justice, and other extraordinary people.
In Christiania, you can meditate in local studios, watch various performances taking place at its art venues, buy handmade creations, original paintings, furniture, or other items at thematic fairs.
Tivoli Gardens
Do you want to get away from the bustle of the city, immerse yourself in a fabulous atmosphere, and visit one of the oldest parks in Europe? Head to Tivoli Park. On its vast territory, there are many cafes, a concert hall, a pantomime theatre, flowering gardens, attractions, and much more. Most of those who have been to Disneyland Paris and Tivoli Park believe that the second one is much more interesting and prefer it.
These are just a small part of what to see in a beautiful Danish capital. Why don’t you get a ticket and experience it yourself this weekend? Just visit the EasyJet website and head to your adventures.
