McLaren Automotive has unveiled its unique interpretation of the modern Grand Tourer, the ultimate travel sports car, the McLaren GT. That is why the new GT is focused not so much on speed, which, by the way, is also present, but more on appearance and, most importantly, comfort, which we will tell you about in more detail.

But let’s step back from the numbers for a while, because the interior is more important for the GT. The interior of the McLaren GT is a lounge space specifically designed for long-distance enjoyment, yet with everything you need for high-performance driving on the track. This means that the seats and the layout of the controls are the same as in any other McLaren. The seats are electrically adjustable and heated, with the second being unique to the McLaren GT, allowing them to be designed from the ground up with Grand Touring in mind: optimized for long-distance comfort, with the perfect amount of padding, shoulder and back support, combined with excellent lateral support.

The technologies and materials in the new McLaren GT are state-of-the-art and of the highest quality, which is to be expected. For example, the possibility of dimming or brightening the glass instead of a panoramic roof, depending on the street lighting, with just one touch of a button.

McLaren’s most advanced infotainment system to date is displayed on a 12.3-inch TFT screen. In general, the interior has a lot of aluminum elements, such as switches and controls, including steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters – all of them were made and machined by hand.

Now let’s look at the exterior and look under the hood

And now about the functional part and its novelties, which in their essence still belong to the part of comfort. The body structure is markedly different from what McLaren already has. The bespoke MonoCell II-T monocoque (T for Tourer) incorporates a carbon fiber rear top structure to minimize weight, plus allows for a 420-liter luggage compartment. The tailgate has a soft close function as standard and can be equipped with an electric drive for even more convenience.

A low engine and exhaust system has been used to optimize the volume, shape, and usability of the luggage compartment. That’s why a golf bag or two pairs of 185 cm skis and luggage can be easily accommodated on top of the full-length tailgate. And an extra 150 liters of front storage means the new McLaren GT can fit a total of 570 liters of luggage.

Powered by the familiar 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with 620 hp. and a moment of 630 N * m, which gives a power-to-weight ratio of 405 hp. per ton. And thanks to the 7-speed SSG transmission, linear, smooth, and continuous acceleration to 100 km / h in 3.2 seconds at first, and then another 5.8 seconds is required for the next. The maximum speed is 326 km/h. And it’s a tourer, don’t forget.
