How to choose the proper booster cables?

Starting current. It must be at least 200 A at the starting wires.
Output voltage. Such boosters must provide an output voltage of at least 9 V.
Length. The optimal length of the wire for lighting is from 3 to 3.5 meters. The rest of the parameters when choosing cables are less important when it comes to specialized wires that are sold in car stores.
How to use the booster cables?
It is important not only to purchase wires but also to be able to use them correctly, otherwise an attempt to start the engine will damage the electrical wiring on one of the cars.
When choosing a donor car for “lighting” it is recommended to give preference to a car that has a similar displacement to your vehicle. This is due to the fact that the starting current depends on the working volume of the engine. Also, the type of engine must be identical. The process of starting a car itself is as follows.

Further, using the booster cables “plus” (red wire) of the discharged battery is connected to the plus of the charged battery. And the “minus” (black wire) is connected to the minus of the battery source, but the second part of the wire is connected to an unpainted metal part of the car body, which is “lit up”.
