How to Choose the Proper Ladder For Your Pool?

When buying or building a pool, it is advisable to immediately take care of purchasing a ladder. It is necessary in order to make it convenient and safe to enter the pool, as well as leave it.

What type of the pool you are going to have?

There are several types of pools: prefabricated seasonal – frame and inflatable, as well as frost-resistant – concrete, and composite, with steel bowls (ground, partially dug in, completely dug in). Based on the type of pool, you should select a ladder.

For inflatable pools, stable double-sided ladder-type models are suitable. Before buying such a stepladder, measure the height of the sides of the pool – the supporting vertical post of the ladder can be a maximum of 15 cm above the side. The most common type of stairs for frame pools are also ladders. These stairs are convenient since this design can be climbed and descended from two sides. These options are easy to install. When choosing a ladder, give preference to stainless steel models – they are not subject to corrosion and are more stable.

For frost-resistant ground-mounted pools, A-shaped and U-shaped stairs are suitable. It is advisable to choose stainless steel models with comfortable handrails and a platform.

If you have a frost-resistant pool, partially buried, you should choose versatile models designed for installation on special platforms or podiums. Such stairs have the first and third steps on the outside, and the fourth and sixth steps on the water. Choose from quality thick-walled stainless steel models.

If the frost-resistant pool is completely buried, hinged ladders will do. They are mounted on the side of the pool or on the floor overboard outside the pool. The lower part of the ladder is not attached but rests against the wall of the pool bowl. The ladder is in the water, so it must be made of high-quality stainless steel.

Ladder’s height

When choosing a ladder, be sure to take into account the height of the sides of the pool. For example, it is not difficult for an adult to step over the sides of 76 cm, but it will be difficult for a child to do this, so it is better to purchase a ladder. The optimal ladder height for such a pool is up to 100 cm.

Meter boards and above (100 cm, 107 cm, 122 cm, and others) require the installation of ladders of the appropriate height. The distance from the side of the pool to the platform of the stairs, if any, or to the first step in the pool, should be 15–30 cm.

Take into consideration the security measures

If small children bathe in the pool, the choice of stairs must be approached especially carefully. It is important that the steps are ribbed or with anti-slip pads – this prevents slipping on the steps. There are models with adjustable steps, thanks to which you can adjust a comfortable step height.

Model ladders with a removable front section are specially designed to restrict access to the pool by children when they are unsupervised. The removable section is fixed to the ladder with plastic fasteners.

It will be more convenient for children to use a ladder with strong handrails and a platform on which to stand.
