Heathrow Express. Your Fastest Way to Swing Between Terminals and Paddington Station

The Paddington Heathrow Express is a dedicated express rail service to central London. For “15 minutes, every 15 minutes” – that’s what the company’s slogan sounds like. The Heathrow Express is a premium train, the fastest transfer between Heathrow Airport and central London. A slow train called the TFL Rail Heathrow runs between Paddington Station and the airport. Such transport is cheaper and intended for airport employees, but it is slower and runs much less often.

Why should you use the Heathrow Express?

The Heathrow Express is so fast that if you stay at one of the hotels near Paddington station, you will get to the airport check-in faster than from some Heathrow hotels.

The eponymous London station (Paddington) is located in the north-western part of London. You may need an additional transfer to get to the train station from Paddington Station. For example, if your destination is the Kensington area, then you will need to go back from the end of the Heathrow Express station. Therefore, overpaying for a quick trip will be meaningless.

For two adults, a private car (mini-cab) ride from Heathrow to a hotel in Earl’s Court, Kensington is cheaper than taking the Heathrow Express and then taking the Underground back to Earl’s Court, or a taxi on the same route.

3 Heathrow stations, 4 passenger terminals. All Heathrow Express trains depart from Terminal 5. The only train stop on the journey to Paddington is Heathrow Central, where Terminals 2 and 3 are located. A separate commuter train runs between Terminal 4 and Heathrow Central Station every 15 minutes. It belongs to the Heathrow Express.

All three stations are deep underground. Terminals 4 and 5 have elevators and escalators leading directly to the passenger platform. From terminals 2 and 3, you first need to walk to the central station. Moving walkways are equipped inside, from there you can go down to the platform.

Paddington station
