Draw Like a Pro with the Apple Pencil
So, today on the review the Apple Pencil 2nd generation. However, not everything is so simple and when buying, frankly speaking, quite an expensive accessory must be approached responsibly. Do you really need an extra drawing tool, or will it basically sit in the far corner of the drawer and collect dust?
What are the exclusive promises us Apple?
A handy tool for highlighting text, and editing tables, and documents with small elements. The iPadOS 14 updates have brought a host of new features and using the Apple Pencil unlocks the full potential of the tablet.
Handwriting recognition. The recognition itself works just fine and will be able to process even the most incredible handwriting and squiggles.
Support for work and all the functions for drawing in MacOS when using the iPad screen as an additional external display in SideCar mode. It is very convenient to use the iPad screen to draw in familiar programs on your computer. However, only fairly recent Macs support this mode, and you should first check for support on the Apple website.
Last but not least, the Apple Pencil is a professional drawing tool with pressure and tilt detection.
Packaging and outlook
Apple, as always, got confused and created a simple but at the same time very pleasant packaging. The appearance is beyond praise, especially when compared with the first-generation stylus. White matte plastic fits very well in the hand and does not slip or scratch like the glossy first version. The flat edge of the stylus allows you to hold it securely.
Charging Apple Pencil holds very well but in the event of a full discharge, you will have to wait a couple of minutes before starting work. The charging process itself is very simple and convenient. Simply attach the stylus to the top edge of the iPad and it will start charging automatically. Very comfortably! Everything looks just fine.
Drawing
Determining the angle of the stylus works fine. The tablet recognizes any change in tilt quickly and clearly. Of course, not all tools support skew definitions, but for most, this feature has a significant impact on the drawing process.
Also, the determination of the pressing force works without problems, allowing you to draw the thinnest line, gradually turning into a bold blot. It’s a little scary to press hard on the iPad screen, but the Apple Pencil does not leave any consequences in the form of scratches, unlike Chinese copies of the stylus. So you have to be careful about the substitution. The delay in rendering the image is about 9ms, which is almost indistinguishable from the eye.
The Apple Pencil can indeed replace professional drawing tools, including popular models of graphics tablets for computers. And also, fully unlocks the potential of professional iPads, making the work easier and more convenient. It is worth noting that this is not just a piece of plastic, but a complex electronic device with its own processor, memory, and battery. In general, if you like to draw, and you don’t have a tool for professional graphic work on your computer yet, but you already have a suitable iPad, then it’s definitely worth a try.
