Don’t Put Your CPU on the Floor, Use the Special Stand
The CPU is the heart of the computer, and therefore favourable conditions should be created for its long and uninterrupted operation. The list of such conditions includes placing it away from heating devices, sources of static electricity, as well as places of high humidity. And, of course, the system unit should stand on a special stand or in a niche on a computer desk.
Many believe that there is nothing wrong with the CPU standing on the floor. You know, everything here depends on the situation, and situations are different. Learn why it should have a stand and what damages can occur to the CPU if it stands on the floor.
Why can’t you place the CPU on the floor?
The CPU cannot be placed on the floor. There are the following reasons for this.
The floor has the most dust. Hopefully, everyone agrees that it is on the floor that the most dust is concentrated. But we know that cooling fans work inside the system unit. And the body of the CPU itself is riddled with all kinds of holes that improve internal ventilation. And it is near these holes that the cooling coolers are concentrated. What do you think, apart from air, are these fans actively sucked into the system unit? Right! Together with the air, the fans draw dust into the system unit.
Water is sometimes spilled on the floor. Heating radiators burst, neighbours flooded, or simply turned over a bucket of water while cleaning the floor near the computer desk. And now the water spreads in the area where the system unit is located. But the CPU is connected to a network with a voltage of 220V. And, if it stands on the floor, then consider that the contact of electricity with water is guaranteed and if on a special stand, then there are chances to avoid this unwanted contact.
High susceptibility to mechanical shock. A computer is not a nail, it doesn’t like being knocked on. Either they hit it with a mop while cleaning the floors, or the owner himself kicks it inadvertently. And sometimes the next blow becomes the last – the computer fails, and its owner spends a tidy sum to repair it. It is quite another matter when the system unit is on a stand or in a niche of a computer desk – here the probability of accidental mechanical shock is much lower.
Why do you need a special stand?
Mobility. The stand is a stand-alone furniture unit. You can easily move it even every day, to any place convenient for you.
Autonomy. Today you have a stationary computer in your house – it needs a stand for the system unit. After some time, you can buy yourself a laptop and abandon a stationary computer – now you do not need a furniture module for the CPU.
Minimum consumption of materials. The most popular models of stands for the CPU have mini-style designs – a minimum of space and a minimum of consumables. Therefore, the cost of these modules is much lower compared to niches for the system unit.
