DJI Mini 2 Drone. Get To Know Its Updated Specs and Specifications
The second model of the entry-level quadcopter DJI Mini 2 has recently entered the market. DJI has undergone a slight rebranding, removing the word Mavic from the name, which has long accompanied many of the company’s models.
Mini 2 from DJI costs a little more than the first Mavic Mini. But, the new drone has an updated camera, more powerful motors, and improved communication quality. Of course, there are not a number of advanced features from the Mavic Air 2, but the Mini 2 is a great choice if you want a quality quadcopter at a relatively low price.
Design and features
In terms of appearance, the DJI Mini 2 is not much different from the original Mavic Mini. The mass of the device is 249 grams.
When folded, the quadcopter will easily fit in a jacket pocket, although you still need to take a bag with you for the rest of the equipment. The included remote control has become a little larger because the antennas and communication have improved markedly. The first generation model had problems connecting over long distances – the Mini 2 is incredibly reliable in this regard.
Functions and application
The DJI Mini 2 has transceivers for GPS systems. These tools allow you to determine the location of the drone on the map and improve the ability of the device to hover in place.
The DJI Fly app includes a Find My Drone feature. It shows the last known location on the map and activates lights and beeps on the quadcopter if it is still operational. You probably don’t want to get to the point of using these features, but they’re here if you need to.
GPS enables autonomous or semi-autonomous flight, the Quickshots function activates automatic flight paths with shooting.
DJI quadcopters have a FlySafe geofencing system – it protects against flying in prohibited areas, during forest fires, or during major sporting events. You can set up geofences yourself so that the drone does not fly away from you further than a certain distance. For beginners, this function will be important and very convenient.
Camera quality
In terms of viewing angle, aperture, and photo resolution, the DJI Mini 2’s camera matches the capabilities of the Mavic Mini, although the video recording resolution has jumped from 2.7K to 4K. Thanks to this, drone footage can be viewed on a 4K UHD TV in full quality. There is also a digital zoom – at 1080p or 2.7K resolution, it does not lead to loss of detail, but the quality of 4K shooting will be slightly worse.
The camera itself is fixed in front of a three-axis gimbals. In normal flight, the stabilization does a great job. You can switch to the high-speed Sport mode or the slower Cinema mode. In the first one, the Mini 2 flies really fast, but you need to be careful because you don’t have any protection from obstacles.
Flight autonomy DJI Mini 2
The battery life of the DJI Mini 2 has also improved. The drone’s motors have been upgraded and now consume less power despite the increased power. When the battery gets close to zero, the DJI Fly app will alert you so you can gently land the aircraft on the ground. The app is available for iOS and Android and is required to interact with the device.
