With smart watches, and regardless of the brand, it’s hard to come up with something every year. And yet, manufacturers are trying to regularly update the range of wearable devices. On the one hand, many remain dissatisfied with the fact that there is not so much really new in the new device. On the other hand, there is no need or temptation to change your watch often. Still, the Series 7 seems poised to be the Apple Watch many want to switch to, even if it’s last year’s Series 6.
What’s in the box?
Basically, everything is the same as before. In addition to the watch, there is a strap, documentation, and a charging cable. There is no charger itself, and the cable has a USB Type-C connector instead of the standard USB A in the past. This should be borne in mind when choosing a power supply.
Display
It is the new display that is the feature for which you want to change any previous Apple Watch to Series 7. The developer has almost halved the width of the frames – from 3 millimeters to 1.7. Thanks to this, the viewing area has increased by 20% compared to its predecessors. And these are not just numbers, but something that really significantly improves the experience of using the watch. The buttons have become larger, and now using the same calculator is much more convenient: erroneous clicks are, in fact, excluded. The situation is similar to entering a password when unlocking the device. Apple assures that the front glass has become one and a half times thicker, and even twice as thick in the center. All this significantly increased the strength and resistance to cracks.
Functionality
This is because the functionality of the watch as a whole remained at the level of its predecessor. ECG, pulse, heart rate, noise tracking, fall detection, blood oxygen measurement – all these were inherited from Series 6. By the way, oxygen shows at the level of a separate pulse oximeter. You can dive into the water to a depth of 50 meters. There was an automatic recognition of cycling. Added a couple of new dials.
Battery
The battery was installed a little more capacious, but you should not expect that this led to an increase in autonomy. All the added reserves went into maintaining a larger and brighter display. So one charge of the watch with all active sensors is still enough for a day of work without recharging. If you wish, you can turn off the always-active display, lower the brightness, deactivate automatic heart rate measurement, and so on – in this case, the device will last two to three days.
Of the interesting – fast charging, compared to Series 6 accelerated by a third. So, in 45 minutes, the novelty is charged from 0 to 80%. True, all this is possible only with a complete cable. The old one will also work, but with it, the watch will charge more slowly.
Yes, Apple has done a great job with their watch again. And this time, the refinement is much more noticeable than when switching from Series 5 to Series 6. It seems that evolutionarily, the Apple Watch has finally come to the look that should have been inherent in them from the very beginning. It is possible that the next generation of “apple” watches will either become completely different, or will not change in any way, but will move on to expanding functionality.
