OnePlus Nord CE 5G. Why It Is a Great Solution For Relatively Cheap Price?
The OnePlus Nord CE is a new mid-range smartphone that offers decent specs and great software at an affordable price. The cameras aren’t the best, and it’s even missing a few key components, but if you’ve been waiting for an affordable offering from the company, the OnePlus Nord CE is your calling.
Design
The OnePlus Nord CE design tells you half the story about its price. No, we don’t mean it’s cheap, but that’s what OnePlus had to put in to keep the cost so low. Let us explain. OnePlus Nord CE is available in three color options – Blue Void, Charcoal Black, and Silver Ray.
It is made of composite material and has an aluminum frame around the phone. It doesn’t have Gorilla Glass protection on the back like the OnePlus Nord. Also gone is the glossy back panel, which has been replaced with a beautiful matte finish.
The power key is on the right side of the phone and is easy to reach with one hand, while the volume rockers are on the left side of the device. You get a 3.5mm headphone jack, a solo speaker, and a USB Type-C port on the bottom. On the left side, you will find a dual SIM slot.
The OnePlus Nord CE measures 159.2 x 73.5 x 7.9mm and weighs just 170 grams. This makes it thinner and lighter than the OnePlus Nord by a wide margin.
Display
The OnePlus Nord CE features a 6.43-inch AMOLED display, making it the most user-friendly phone in the OnePlus Nord and N lineup. It has a Full HD+ resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels), a 20:9 aspect ratio, and a 90Hz smooth refresh rate. Gone is the Gorilla Glass protection for the OnePlus Nord, but OnePlus offers DragonTrail glass protection here. It’s not as durable as Corning’s Gorilla Glass, but it easily protects the screen from scratches.
On top of that, the OnePlus Nord CE also comes with a basic anti-scratch screen protector preinstalled.
The display is flat, unlike some flagship phones from OnePlus. It’s a crisp and sharp AMOLED display with good viewing angles. The phone is also HDR certified, which means you’ll be able to stream HDR content to Netflix, YouTube, and more.
Performance
The device is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G chipset. It is a 2.2GHz octa-core processor built with 8nm technology and the graphics are Adreno 619 GPU. It is also a 5G capable chipset that comes with a Qualcomm X52 5G modem for 5G connectivity.
The Snapdragon 750G is a powerful chipset that excels at everyday tasks such as opening multiple apps at the same time, switching between them, and playing multiple games.
Cameras
On the OnePlus Nord CE, you get three cameras on the back and one on the front. Photos taken in the standard 16-megapixel mode are bright, colorful, and sharp. The colors are a little oversaturated, which increases the contrast a bit, but that’s perfectly acceptable given the added brightness. The dynamic range of the Nord CE is also quite good.
Software
OnePlus smartphone software has been a fan favorite for several years now. This is due to overall stable and smooth performance, with no lag and most importantly, no frills. While Oxygen OS isn’t as close to stock Android right now, the device offers a lot of handy software features without overwhelming them with options.
OnePlus Nord CE brings Oxygen OS capabilities at a new lower price. The device runs Oxygen OS 11 based on Android 11.
